Live your own life, follow your own star.
Why hello party people! How's it going?
Life here is pretty good. Still only working 32 hours a week, although this week we had our holiday on Monday so it's a 3 day week. Sweet. Until the paycheck comes in of course.
Mom comes in tomorrow for a family wedding this weekend. Poor Adam is going. He has to endure my family. There are a bunch of them too!
Which answers the question some of you are probably asking: Is Carrie still with that boy? Why yes I am. Minus the few days I was in Chicago, we have seen each other every single day for nearly 5 weeks. I know. It's a record for me, right? It's so fun and nice! I love it!
Unfortunately, we've been eating out more than we should. Although I love it because we go to great, healthier places, I have still managed to gain a whopping 3 lbs. Um. Not so good since I would much prefer to lose a whopping 12 lbs (more like 15 now) but I'm sure once we get through that super exciting time period, we'll get back to normal schedules.
Last night I cooked steak, corn on the cob, Mom's canned green beans (with onion and bacon), salad and some of those tasty Sister Schubert dinner rolls. Man, I love those things. I'm sure he was impressed with my Martha Stewart-ishness. Ha!
The holiday weekend was nice and long for me. I didn't do a whole lot on Friday as it rained most of the day.
Saturday we went to Johnny and Alicia's for the afternoon. It was his first official day NOT working around me (although he did go into work for a bit that morning). He played pool volleyball with the big boys while I did this and that. I made Bakerella's cute little bikini bear cupcakes. Although cute, they didn't look nearly as NOT messy as hers did. Pics as soon as Alicia sends them my way. We ended up leaving around 7:30 because we were exhausted. We ended the evening with Gran Torino. We had started it twice already and had fallen asleep watching it. We finally finished it! I really like it!
Sunday I just cleaned house and did 2.5 hours of ironing. Ugh.
Monday was another laid back day running errands. Fe came into town and Alicia and Lisa joined us for No Doubt, Paramore and Bedouin Soundclash at the Starlight Theater. Dudes. No Doubt freakin' rocked! None of that bullshit from Gwen's solo career. Their stage design was awesome: all white - so they dressed in all white and black. My abs and back STILL hurt from jumping up and down forever...at least I didn't break my shoes this time! Such an amazing show! Gwen's abs are pretty good motivation for me to workout!
I've been reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt. I'm not very far along. I keep getting (happily) distracted by some boyfriend of mine. I'm sure I'll get a little time to read it sometime in the near future.
I think I'm going to make some posts about all the Happy Hour and dinner places we have been to lately (we being Colleen and myself and Adam and myself). We'll see if that happens though. My stupid internet at the house is not working. Maybe because I don't pay for it?? Hmm...
Guess I'll talk to you all soon!
Hello Brixey Banter-ees. I am sitting in my dining room with the soaking wet carpet (apparently from a dishwasher change upstairs that went awry and flooded my ceiling leaving giant pools of water and chunks of ceiling everywhere in my dining room and kitchen. Did they bother to check my apartment? Uh. No.) writing to you happy people while listening to Son Volt "Trace" on my DVD player because the 5 disc CD player my ex-boyfriend gave me 6 years ago has not worked for the last three years - it constantly skips. And my dumb (forgetful) ass forgot my Ipod at work. Doh!
Note to self: When dying hair be sure to clean the Vaseline off behind the ears before scratching them later. Gross.
Note to Loreal: Thanks for knowing that I would burn my backside a pitiful deep cherry color that would match the color of my hair the next evening when I dyed it with Rich Mahogany.
Note to Loreal #2: Rich Mahogany should be renamed Deep Cherry as there is little to no mahogany in the color.
I went out to Andrew's school tonight to watch him play baseball. Did I mention that the heat index when I went out there was 108. And there is no shade. Poor boys. I missed the top of the first (they were up to bat) and got there as Andrew was pitching. Um. They allowed 10 runs in one inning. Luckily, after 10 in an inning, they end the inning. Those boys were hot and cranky. I left a little after an hour when Cindy, Alicia, Leah, Lisa and Jace made their exit. No point sweating balls. I don't have simply to watch the Falcons get their 14 year old asses kicked by a bunch of short kids (not being mean, there were just a bunch of little guys on the other team).
So I came home to dye my hair. After getting the bright red dye in my hair (it doesn't start changing until about 10 minutes after application), I discovered the puddle on the floor in the kitchen, the wet carpet in the dining room and random chunks of popcorn ceiling all over the bar. Sweet. I therefore went upstairs to ask my crackhead neighbor (whose apt is super clean mind you) if he had an accident. I am sure I was a sight for sore eyes with short shorts, no bra (as if it matters) and a Vaseline swathed hairline with red gooey junk all over my short not-locks.
What has been going on? Lots.
First off, the bad news. We were cut down to 32 hours of pay at work. Mandantory Fridays off without pay. Not so awesome.
Colleen and I went to Chicago last Saturday through Wednesday. We had a good time. It all started for me with a long drive on Saturday and a rock star urinary tract infection. Nice. But we made it to Chicago in 7.5 hours with two stops including lunch. We made it just in time to get dogs and chips at IKEA for $2.50 and then Colleen spent nearly $200 on some furniture. Lillberg bench. Um. Lillberg did NOT want to fit into the car. We squeezed Lillberg in between us and couldn't see each other. Very annoying but so worth it for Colleen to have Lillberg. Then we went to a hotel and checked in (um - after getting denied at the first hotel - which happened to be North of the city and was full! Yeah right Indian dude that I'm sure was named Raj). Stupid pee urges.
Sunday we drove to the airport and parked the car in the super economy lot because it just seems to make much more sense to me to pay $9/day for parking versus $26-38/day downtown. Such crazy logic, I know. Then we dragged our bags into the city and checked into the hotel.
We even did an automated check in. Sweet. How very contemporary of us.
Then we went to Lincoln Park to window shop and get lost about 10 times. No biggie. We never did find the Crate and Barrel outlet though.
We met Linda, my Herman Miller rep and Alli, my Maharam rep at the bar outside on the roof of the Wit for drinks and snacks around 5 pm. We ended up staying there until nearly 8:30 and even though we were pretty tired, we checked out the bar at our hotel. Colleen had a drink called a Pink Lady. It was gin, cream and grenadine and it was amazing. I don't even like gin!
MOnday we took our time getting out the door and didn't get to NeoCon until nearly 10 am. I had a few appointments including a secret one that I cannot disclose any information about but it was through Steelcase and it involved prototype chairs. We had a free yummy lunch on the 6th floor at the Bright showroom (cool stuff) At 2 pm, we left the Merchandise Mart, knowing that it was going to be miserably rainy all day Tuesday, and went to Prairie Avenue Bookstore where we proceeded to NOT buy a single book. Then to see Millenium Park because I had never seen it. Renzo Piano has a new hotel addition there and I totally called it. He's so obvious.
Back to the mart for a gazillion little parties with free food and cocktails. KI Industries even had a garnish your own mac and cheese served in LED lit stem martini glasses. Cool. Later, although we were craving pizza (duh. Chicago.) and were a little drunk (duh. free drinks.) we ventured back out to Lincoln Park and after using my stupid GPS with DRIVING directions that kept making us walk in crazy ass circles with our achey feet, we finally found our destination and attended the Herman Miller party. It was incredible. The venue was a floral shop but was very funky. The theme was Urban Picnic and even our drinks were served in mason jars. We were so glad we went although super giggly by the time we left!
Tuesday we managed to get out of the hotel by 9 am but still didn't get to the Mart until 10 am! I had three meetings with Haworth, Herman Miller and Steelcase in a row (all in a row on the same floor too) then we ended up getting a free lunch from Janus et Cie. Sweet outdoor furniture. Then we tackled the entire remaining floors: 3, 6, 8 and 9. Ugh. My feet are still swollen. That night was an early one. We were so pissed with the idiocy of the mart by then! We walked outside to take a taxi and had to walk around the entire other side of the building to get a taxi! And it was pouring and I swear I had 50 lbs of stupid shit in my bag. So we get to the stupid taxi side of the building and there is a line that reaches to the end where we were at on the other side of the building! WTF! So we left and walked a few blocks in the rain and caught a taxi away from the Mart. Stupid Mart. We dropped our stuff off at the hotel and walked a couple of blocks to Pizzeria Uno where we had yummy pizza and beer.
Did I mention that we had complimentary turn down service at our rock star hotel? They left us chocolate dipped fortune cookies on our pillows every night. Sweet.
Anyway, Adam and I have been spending all his free time together. I had a lot more free time than he does as he works all the freakin' time. Plus, Fridays off for me now so...
Oh. And on the way back, Colleen and I got in a mega hail storm in Boonville, MO! It was scary! My windshield is mega-cracked in a circular pattern about 12 inches in diameter on the passenger's side (with branches leading off that) and I swear that one of the dents on the wheel wells that stick out is nearly an inch deep. It was crazy! We tried to get under a canopy but so did everyone else!
Other happenings include cleaning out Alicia's garage yesterday, watching Leah take three big steps, having Wyatt entertain the crap out of me and various other silly things. I am nearly done reading Alias, Grace (didn't I say that in my last post like a month ago?). I'm sure I'll read it tonight a little.
I'm sunburnt as all get out but when you have a sweet boyfriend around, reaching those hard to get spots on my back aren't so bad after all.
I'm starting a 6 week diet plan this week. Woo.
Took the test. It sucked as usual. Guess I'll know how bad in 4 - 6 weeks.
Alright, time to get ready for the boy to stop by and say hi. :)
Ciao.
Rachel Yamagata "Happenstance" - A good ending to a long day?
The test wasn't terrible. It probably wasn't great, but it wasn't AWFUL.
I didn't study a whole lot. I blame that on my new distraction in the form of a 5'-11" fellow architect with black hair and blue eyes. He's terribly distracting. In a really good way.
Maybe in 4 - 6 weeks I'll find out that I'm a bonafide architect! Woo! Or maybe not...
It's so nice to not have that test thing looming over me for the summer. We leave on Saturday morning for Chicago! Fun! I'm SO looking forward to all those parties and seeing some new design stuff!!
I've been reading Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood. I bought it about 6 years ago and never got into it. Now I can't put it down.
yesterday, after my test, I was going to go hang out in Alicia's pool all day but of course it POURED down rain. So I got my car inspected (1.5 hours at Firestone - got a lot of reading done and nearly got struck by lightning through the window). I got lunch on my way home, gathered all my papers and made my way to the county courthouse to the assessor's office to prove I don't owe taxes in Jackson County. She made me go back home and get three years worth (09, 08, 07) of bank statements proving that I didn't live in Jackson County. The next lady, a fine specimen for "why old ladies should wax their mustaches" HELPED (hahaha) me by telling me that I couldn't get anything from them because my January 09 address said I lived in Howell County so I would need to go to their office to get my stuff. I was RAVING MAD. She was so rude, gave me little explanation and shrugged me off. If only I had informed her of her hairy lip!!
Why do they need 09 taxes?? I live here NOW. That's exactly what the nice Howell County lady told me mom. Then I called her and had her fax my papers to the DMV. Then I went BACK downtown to get my car tags. Which I did. But I didn't get my driver's license (directly across from tags in the same room) because I don't have a social security card. I have every other form of ID known to man, just not that.
Plus, their map on their website showed them at the corner of Grand and 13th. I'm driving around one way streets in the POURING rain and guess what? They are 3 blocks east of that! WTF?? Who made that map?
So it took me nearly 4 hours of running around for two lousy Missouri license plates.
Then I had a dinner date! Woo!
Work has been pretty slow lately. I hope it picks up soon!
Not much else to tell...all I did as of this last weekend is spend time with Adam, go to Alicia's pool and watch the nephews play T Ball and baseball. Sweet life.
They call it "Rockfest" but I think the name should be changed to "Nasty People Coming Out of The Woodwork" Fest. I have never seen so many immoral, tacky, gross people in one place. Seriously. Gross.
I mean, not everyone was gross. We met quite a few nice people. However, the majority seemed to be led down stray paths in life such as the "rotting teeth meth" group or the "I need a pair of 50 cent beads so I'll show my boobies no matter how disgusting they look" group. Awesomeness. During Saving Abel, we were in the very front pressed up against the steel railing while crowd surfer after crowd surfer soared over our heads (sometimes INTO our heads) only to be yanked out of the air by the security guys. One chick had no shirt on and was milking her boobies onto the crowd. That's right. I said it, she was MILKING HER BOOBIES AND SQUIRTING BREAST MILK ONTO THE CROWD. I don't know how much trashier a person can get beyond that.
After Saving Abel, Lisa and I decided that it would be a good idea to stay back, away from 50,000 people pressing us into the railing as we were bruised from all the soaring feet and fat asses that were crow surfing. I have several bruises that I can't exactly account for...
It was a super long day but we did end up having fun. We were smart and didn't start drinking until after 6 pm, slurping water by the bottle full before that. We ate badly and embarrassed the youth that were with us by head banging. Note to self: No headbanging after age 21. My neck is SO freakin' sore! As are my calves, shoulders and back. I'm getting old folks, there is no doubt about it.
Yesterday, I went over to Alicia's and we sat poolside for a good 3 plus hours. Luckily, Lisa and I had lathered ourselves in SPF 30 on Saturday and it did it's job well. I was only a little pink on the top of my shoulders, nose and that spot I missed in the middle of my back. Doh! So yesterday I just got a little darker - with more freckles on my nose. Sweet.
In past news, Fe and Gus came to town for my bday and along with Alicia and a new friend, Adam, we went to La Bodega and drank way too many pitchers of sangria...and then went to the Velvet Dog and sat outside drinking more in the perfect May evening. It was such a great night!
Last week, Colleen and I went to Happy Hour at The Melting Pot on Wednesday night and The Drop on Friday night. Both were great and not too terribly expensive (half price drinks and appetizers - or as in the case of the Melting Pot - half price cheese fondue).
This weekend the girls are going to the Strawberry Festival in Independence. I think. I also have to bake cookies tomorrow night for Alicia's mother-in-law's church bake sale as I promised her I would a few weeks ago. I also have Andrew's baseball game on Friday night. I love that I get to see the kiddos so much!
Even my head is sore. Ugh.
Last week was Jace and Wyatt's first T-Ball game. HILARIOUS.
My last (hopefully!) ARE test is next week - June 9th. I'm scared. I better damn well pass it! Starting tonight will be studying (well, more studying) for it and using my treadmill that I conned Fe and Gus into carrying upstairs to my place. I have GOT to tone up. My tan fat is still jiggly fat - it's just darker.
Alright, gotta get going! Ciao!
I think I'm supposed to be studying right now. Hmmm...
So good news! I now get TWO digital channels. It's like having cable again. I remember those days...
Not much going on. It looks like I'll be going to Chicago in June for NeoCon. Woo! Fe is going to go with me. That will be fun!
Next week I turn 32. 3-2. Ugh.
I'm nearly done reading The Plot Against America. It's REALLY good!
I baked cupcakes last night. My marshmallow ones. Yum.
I haven't seen any movies lately, like AT the movies. I watched Wanted again last night. I liked it much better the second time.
I have a headache.
I'm hungry.
I have poison ivy on my arm.
This past weekend I hung out with the kiddos all day Saturday. Got a tiny bit of sun. Not enough to count. Sunday I spent cleaning the house and napping. It was gross and rainy. Like it is now.
I think I finally have the apartment pieced together okay.
We're going to the zoo in a couple of weeks. I love the zoo.
Tori Amos is coming to town in July. Woo.
Rockfest is the 30th of this month. Saving Abel will be back so I am sure I'll visit with Scott again.
Colleen (at work) and I talked today about going to Happy Hour once a week. Tomorrow we're going to some event with free food, free drinks and the chance to win a Knoll Bertoia Diamond Chair. Sweet.
Next week, since we celebrate our birthdays on the same day, we might go to Boulevard for some brews at Happy Hour. We'll see.
I guess that's about it.
Ciao.
From Sunday, April 26
It's Sunday. I can't believe how long it's been since I've written. It's not like I've been doing much. I work. I see the babies play soccer. I read. It's not a very exciting life but it's all mine.
It's getting ready to storm here in KC. I've had the windows open for a week or so. It's so nice outside. Ok. So I just closed the windows thinking about that scary rain coming in.
I'm hoping to take my last test in two weeks. That means I have to start studying tomorrow. Blah. Better that in the summer I guess.
A few weeks ago, Saving Abel came to town. I hung out with Scott. I'm pretty sure we drank too much!! It was good to connect with someone from my Memphis past that wasn't an ex-boyfriend! Plus, with someone who deserves all that has happened to him with the success of the band. They are coming back for RockFest! in May and we'll be going. I can't even imagine being on a tour bus that long! He gave me a tour. Crazy small! I also got a VIP pass for the concert and was all trying to be cool. I'm not cool! Ha! I got to stand literally right under the stage to the right side (stage left?). Incredible. I have lots of little camera videos I will post eventually. Anyway, like I said, we had a good time. It's weird to hang out with someone that people recognize in a bar!!
I'm finally getting settled into the "new" place. I still have some cleanign up to do, but I'm basically in. Mom and I got a buffet for the living room over Easter and it's now my tv stand. It works great and is the design I love! It rode around in my car for 1.5 weeks before Lisa and Alicia were able to come over and help me carry it up the stairs. Then we went to the Plaza for dinner and beer at the Kona Grill. That was this past Wednesday, the first day it was really nice outside. There were tons of people out there!
I've been reading The Plot Against America by Philip Roth. It's amazing. I have never read anything from Roth. It's well-written and reads very easily.
Fe and Gus are having their annual Derby party this weekend. It will be fun to get out of town for the weekend and see them. We're all trying to figure out what to do for my (32!) birthday this year. It lands the Thursday before Memorial Day - the closest it's been to Memorial Day in a very long time. I love three day weekends. That will also be 3 months for me at work. Vacation! Insurance! Woo!
Like I said, not much going on. It's already 10 pm!! Geez. I didn't do anything useful today!! Lisa had a slumber party last night. I really needed to vacuum out my car today but it was so muggy!! My DVD player died on Friday at lunchtime. I've been coming home every day for lunch and end up doing an 8 minute leg or arm video. However, the DVD player just puttered out. It was 8 years old! I picked up a new one yesterday at Walmart for $40. It's so much smaller than my old one!! It actually fits into the buffet side doors. The old DVD player had to sit under the tv!
Well,it's time for bed. I'm old you know :)
Keep it real, yo.
Why hello there! Two times in one whole week. A record for 2009!
So I'm sitting here eating goat cheese on triscuits. I wish I had some better crackers but I don't. Man, I love me some goat cheese. Huge fan! Of course, cheese is my favorite food in general: cheddar, blue, goat, cow, processed. You name it I'll eat it. Cheese. Yum.
In a few days, Saving Abel will be coming to town on tour with Nickelback. Now, this is where I admit that would rather have pins placed strategically into all my nerve endings to cause me great pain instead of going to hear Nickelback play. Yeah, that's how much I enjoy their music. However, Mr. Scott Bartlett is the current guitarist for Saving Abel and we're going to hang out that night. If you do not remember, or do not know, Mr. Bartlett was the guitarist with my ex-boyfriend (Fred Wittber for all of those out there doing a google search on his name - no, I don't know what he is doing so stop reading my blog to find out his whereabouts...) in a band called Rusty Lemon. Eons ago. I haven't seen Mr. Bartlett SINCE my Memphis days. It will be interesting to see how Wednesday night pans out. I have a feeling it will consist of a fair amount of alcohol.
Scott informed me that he will be done with his part of the show around 8 pm so I'm sure we'll get a drink or two sometime after that. In the world that I live in, very small world that it is, Scott ALSO knows Farrah as they went to Rhodes together. Small world.
Mmmmm....goat cheese.
Yes, I went out to see Mr. Wyatt and Mr. Jace in their first (technically second since they played at 2 pm today and I didn't see that game) soccer game. OMG. It was so cute!! Their team consists of 3, 4, 5 and 6 year olds running in a big pack back and forth, up and down the field. Sometimes they cry. "There's no crying in soccer!" Cute. Afterwards, we went to our favorite Mexican spot for a quick dinner and then Johnny, Alicia and myself went to the Blue Springs American Legion to the most awkward birthday party I have ever been. Picture this: woman turning 40 has her ex-boyfriend's band play at her 40th bday party. They have two kids but have never been married.
Awkward!
Alicia and I joined Bryan and Meredith for an evening of bad karaoke, provided by us, at some tiny shack (i.e. bar/Chinese restaurant) called Double D's. Yes, not exactly what you were picturing when you think of a bar called Double D's. Instead of double d's and stripper poles we got free crab rangoon with our bottled beer and the sweet sounds of our own beautiful melodies. Um. Okay. We sucked on the karaoke and there were only 10 of us there (all our group) but we seemed to have a good time. Giggles was really going tonight. (That's Alicia). OMG she cracks me up when she giggles. Even when we were little she giggled like that.
I wish I had drank more so I can forget how awful I was singing everything! At least we were all pathetic with our singing!
Okay. It's time for beddie bye. I have to work tomorrow. Surprise!
Oh. I forgot to mention that I started I, Robot. I really like it but it just proves to me that books are always better than the movie. Except in the case of The Princess Bride where the movie follows the book. Literally word for word. Interesting. Try to prove me wrong. I read the book while watching the movie.
Yeah, I'm that kind of nerd.
Not a day goes by where I don't think of you all.
Okay. That is NOT a true statement. Many days go by because I'm busy all day and most of the night working!! Crazy how I went from no job to overload job!!
Not much has been going on lately anyway. It snowed on Saturday - and sleeted. I stayed in and hung shelves and took naps and watched Veronica Mars Season one on DVD while it was nasty outside. I used it as an excuse to NOT work for one weekend. Whew. Nice to veg. I didn't even shower or change out of my pjs on Saturday. Gross I know but even though the apartment still looks like a disaster area, I did get a lot done.
I haven't been reading and the reason why I think isn't because I don't have time. Technically, instead of playing solitaire before bed, I could read. However, Doctor Zhivago just isn't holding my interest. I'm going to have to read it later and go ahead and read I, Robot in the meantime. I hope I like it!
I know where the public library is so one weekend in April I will go and become a member. I'm so excited! I love public libraries!!! Woo!!
Also, I found out that there is a Frank Lloyd Wright house near me. I'm not a huge fan, but you gotta give the guy some credit, some of his work is pretty cool. Rusty said I'm not allowed to see the Holl addition to the Nelson-Atkins until he comes to visit. Hurry up dude!! Actually, no. Wait until it warms up so we can do some sweet shopping on the Plaza and take a cab to the Power & Light District and hang outside whilst drinking tasty beverages.
This weekend is the little guys' (i.e. Jace and Wyatt) first soccer game. Last weekend was supposed to be their first game but what with all the ice and stuff, it was canceled. It should be pretty funny. I like the little ones...Wyatt and I played a lot tonight. I went over for Survivor night. Leah is sitting up. She also holds my hands and tries to walk. She REALLY concentrates when she does it. She's so pretty. And cute!
Like I said, not much going on. Work. Veronica Mars on DVD. Not cleaning. That pretty much sums it all up!
I'll let you know how I, Robot goes...after this game of solitaire. On my phone of course.
Well, between moving and being super busy at work, I haven't had much time to write. Big surprise, eh?
Here's the big news for the past...week?
Last Saturday (as in two Saturdays ago), Mom drove up with a Uhaul trailer and truck bed full of my crap (note that it wasn't ALL of my crap - just what she could fit). Alicia, Johnny, Jake, Matt, Lisa and Josh all helped us move me in...the boys left to watch the Mizzou game and us girls tackled boxes and arranging of furniture. As grateful as I am that the boys helped me move (believe me, there is no way I can even explain what an awesome job they did - and efficiently and quickly - and Johnny was even suffering the second day of the stomach flu!), we had a bit of moving around of furniture and boxes to do.
The girls left around 3 ish after running out of things for me to boss them around about (Jace was there and we had an incident with pooping where Lisa had to pause to coax him into trying to go - I had to pause for moral support after he asked for me in the bathroom. Neither of us could get him to go - however, the good news is that he has been going for a week now IN the potty without too many problems - big news! Woo! He's poo poo trained!). After the girls left, Mom and I kept working and then finally went to Walmart where she bought me a new flat screen tv! Woo! And other supplies.
We took the tv back to the apartment so we could pick up dinner. Well, much to our annoyance, a drug deal was apparently going on in my new parking lot! Rockstar, dudes. We don't think it was anything hard because dude is too chubby to be a crackhead.
Anywho, Mom and I went to the Plaza (2 minutes away!) and picked up Panera. I wasn't feeling too good but went ahead and got a salad. We finished dinner and started putting the IKEA Expedit cube shelf I got before I moved. We finished that and guess who vomited? Me. Yup. Stomach flu woo woo.
I slept on the couch and soon after we turned off the lights, I had to go from the other end. Well, while I was doing that, I got that horrible urge to vomit and all we had in the new bathroom near me was a paper Christmas present bag. Bad idea of the day: vomiting mostly liquid with a few salad floaties into a PAPER bag. As soon as I was done (dudes, both ends at the same time - not awesome), my bag broke into my lap and spilled its nasty contents all over my lap and the bathroom rug. Sweet. So I stripped to my skivvies and wadded up my pants and rug and walked into the second bedroom where my clothes were. Mom is all like "what's wrong?" and I feably reply "I had an accident." We threw the clothes into the tiniest washer this side of the Mississippi and I found some pants and went to bed...only to get up one more time - both ends. Luckily, this time, I had found a little plastic trashcan. Whew.
Thank goodness that was it for the vomiting.
So I slept like crap and I have this HORRIBLE headache and no more Excedrin. In the morning, Mom went to get coffee and drugs for me. We manage, with me feeling like pure A crapola, to attach my tall bookshelves to the wall so they won't fall over. That's about all we could get done with me feeling nasty.
Mom drove us to Alicia's house where her truck had spent the night. She left and I somehow or other managed to drive home. By then it was about 2 pm and I just crashed until 7 am the next morning.
A two to five minute drive to work is so awesome.
Although, I hardly got any house work done this week since I was busting my behind here at the office. I like work though so I can't complain too much!
Monday I still felt lousy but started to perk up about 2 pm...I hadn't eaten since Saturday evening so it's not surprise I didn't feel good until after finally eating something.
Like I said, most of the week was a blur of working.
The most awesome thing about that weekend (besides getting my kitties back from their grandma) was that Fe got us No Doubt tickets here in town at the Starlight Theater! I could wet my pants I'm so excited!! NO F'ING DOUBT!
Let's see...what else. This past weekend Alicia and I met up with Meredith, Brian, Bobby and Erica for Meredith's 30th birthday. We had dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and although my $10 Strawberry Martini was SO expensive, it was SO good. Then we went back to Brian's house and played drinking games until finally ending up at Missie B's, a raunchy gay bar near my house. Let's just say I wasn't impressed and probably won't be going back anytime soon.
I found out today that if all goes well here, I will be going to NeoCon this summer. So fun!
And I haven't read anything lately and I haven't watched anything because I have one channel: CBS. And it's very fuzzy. Too bad since I have that nice tv!!
Good news party people! I'm moving tomorrow! Woo!
I was approved for my new apartment and Mom is driving up early in the morning. At first, I thought I was on the third floor but I'm not so that means less steps for my four manly movers! One of whom is currently fighting off a bout of stomach flu that has plagued everyone in this house except me. I know. My time is coming.
Not much has really happened this week. Work is really busy and that's totally awesome. We have finish boards going out and it is SO fun picking out finishes. I love that our reps are so responsive. It makes my job so enjoyable.
Some product were are using is this really cool terrazzo tile that has mirrored channels in it so when a light (or shadow) pass over it, it reflects through the channels. It's called Sensitile. We're also hoping to use this incredible tile that looks like wood planks. It's Italian which means it's super cheap. It's called Esko by Impronta Ceramiche Italgraniti. It's amazing.
Anyway, I gotta go get to bed early. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.
